At North Tabor Farm, a 6-acre family-run farm off North Road in Chilmark we meet Matthew Dix & Rebecca Miller learning about the intricacies of growing highest-quality produce—from their popular greens, famous shitake mushrooms and beautiful tomatoes. We learned how to select the best of what the soil has to offer throughout the growing season, and why loving care for animals translates into good meat.

On the way to Beetlebung Farm, we stopped to check out one of the islands working pig farms to see how they care for their animals in a sustainable way.

Then off to Beetlebung Farm, Chris Fischer’s family farm in Chilmark where food and farming have been central to the Island family for twelve generations. After a personal tour with Chris to harvest the final ingredients for lunch, we headed into the outdoor kitchen with his team to create a simple meal/

Into the kitchen Beach Plum Restaurant, we worked side by side with Chef Chris Fischer and his team Olivia and Lauren to learn how to process a guinea hen, bake perfect loaves of bread and make fresh succulent pasta.

Flower farmer Krishana Collins 150 year old barn on Tea Lane Farm was the glorious location for our feast. Over a meal inspired by the day created Chef Chris, we enjoyed a fantastic evening of lively conversation with new and old friends.
